Dear Information Center Users,
As you know, the Information Center is available 24/7 and is heavily used throughout the day. To ensure that all our users can benefit from the Information Center fairly, we implemented our IC Fair Use Policy in 2023, in response to your feedback. Furthermore, we increased our seating capacity from 721 to 827 by utilizing all areas of the Information Center in the most efficient way. Our team is working diligently to ensure you can benefit from the current situation in a healthy and equitable manner.
We are saddened to observe that this application, which we implemented considering the sensitivity of all our users, has recently been interrupted.
We kindly request that you comply with our IC Fair Use Policy to address any disruptions or space allocation issues that may arise due to your strong interest in the Information Center.
With this policy, tables with Fair Use Cards will be available to other users for occupancy periods exceeding 1 hour. If you anticipate not being able to arrive within 1 hour, please store your personal belongings in the lockers located inside the IC or leave your belongings in order before leaving your table so that other users can sit.
It is crucial that you adhere to our Fair Use Practices to ensure a smoother process and ensure that all our users can make the most of the available seating capacity. We thank you all in advance for your consideration and wish you continued success in your studies.
The rules we expect you to follow regarding Fair Use Cards are listed below:
- We strongly request that you do not remove or change Fair Use Cards left on tables outside of your own seat. Failure to do so disrupts IC Building staff's regular checks and causes other users to be unable to find a seat.
- Do not leave items such as water bottles, thermoses, stationery, notebooks, books, or lecture notes on tables to take up space. IC Building staff may collect these items, and other users may use those seats without a Fair Use Card.
- We have occasionally observed you leaving coats, jackets, and other clothing on the chairs you sit on, even though there are no items on the tables (laptops, tablets, mobile phones, bags). In this case, other users looking for an available seat may use that seat without a Fair Use Card.
- Fair Use Cards will be placed on laptops, tablets, mobile phones, or bags left on the table. Other items may be collected. If you do not collect these items from the Circulation Desk on the same day, they will be handed over to the Security Department.
- When you see the hourly cards placed on the tables, if the time is 1 hour past the scheduled time, carefully and orderly place the items with the Fair Use Card on them in a suitable place on the table and feel free to use that space.
- To prevent repeated printing as part of our sustainability goals, please do not damage the Fair Use Cards we leave on the tables.
